Mushroom Mocktails: 5 Alcohol-Free Holiday Drink Recipes

Five holiday mushroom mocktails with Happie Fungi Fusion Blue Raspberry, Mango Mimosa and Watermelon cans

A mushroom mocktail is an alcohol-free mixed drink built on a functional mushroom beverage instead of a spirit. The easiest way to make one is to start with a flavored sparkling mushroom seltzer, then add juice, fresh herbs and a good garnish. Below are five holiday recipes made with the three Fungi Fusion flavors, plus a few tips for hosting a party where the alcohol-free drinks get as much attention as everything else on the table.

Why alcohol-free drinks belong on the holiday menu

More of your guests are skipping alcohol than you might think. In Gallup's 2025 consumption survey, 54% of U.S. adults said they drink alcohol, the lowest share in the nearly 90 years Gallup has asked the question (Gallup, Aug 2025). The same poll found drinkers are drinking less often, too.

Interest in mocktails tends to peak in November and December, right when party invitations pile up (Accio mocktail trend summary, 2026). So a couple of good alcohol-free options is no longer a nice extra. It's just good hosting.

What makes a good mushroom mocktail

A great mocktail needs the same things a great cocktail does: balance, bubbles and a reason to slow down and sip. Here's the simple formula behind every recipe below:

  • A flavorful sparkling base. Fungi Fusion brings the fizz and the fruit, so you don't need a separate soda.
  • Something tart. Fresh lemon or lime juice keeps the drink from tasting flat.
  • Something aromatic. Mint, rosemary or citrus peel adds the "grown-up drink" feeling.
  • Plenty of ice and a real glass. Presentation does a lot of the work.

All five recipes are caffeine-free and alcohol-free. Pour the seltzer last and gently, so you keep the bubbles.

1. The Zero-Proof Mango Mimosa

The obvious place to start. Fungi Fusion Mango Mimosa was made with this moment in mind, and it's the easiest drink on the list.

You'll need (1 drink):

  • 2 oz chilled orange juice
  • About half a can of Fungi Fusion Mango Mimosa, well chilled
  • Orange twist, to garnish

How to make it: Pour the orange juice into a champagne flute. Tilt the glass and slowly top with Mango Mimosa. Twist the orange peel over the glass and drop it in.

Hosting tip: For brunch, set out a tray of flutes with juice already poured and let guests top their own.

2. Watermelon Mint Spritz

Bright, cool and very pink. Good for anyone who wants something light between bites.

You'll need (1 drink):

  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 can of Fungi Fusion Watermelon, chilled
  • Lime wheel and a mint sprig, to garnish

How to make it: Gently press the mint leaves with the lime juice in the bottom of a tall glass. Fill with ice, top with Watermelon and stir once. Garnish with the lime wheel and mint sprig.

3. Blue Raspberry Blueberry Holiday Punch (serves 8)

A big-batch punch saves you from playing bartender all night. Frozen blueberries chill the bowl and look great floating on top.

You'll need:

  • 4 cans of Fungi Fusion Blue Raspberry, chilled
  • 2 cups white cranberry juice, chilled
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 3 or 4 rosemary sprigs
  • Lemon slices

How to make it: In a punch bowl or large pitcher, stir together the white cranberry juice and lemon juice. Add the frozen blueberries, rosemary and lemon slices. Right before guests arrive, slowly pour in the Blue Raspberry so it stays fizzy. Serve over ice.

Hosting tip: White cranberry juice keeps the punch's color clear and bright. Regular cranberry juice will turn it purple, which is also festive.

4. Mango Ginger Mule

A holiday take on the classic mule, with warm ginger and tropical mango.

You'll need (1 drink):

  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz non-alcoholic ginger beer
  • About half a can of Fungi Fusion Mango Mimosa, chilled
  • Lime wedge and a slice of candied ginger, to garnish

How to make it: Fill a copper mug or rocks glass with crushed ice. Add the lime juice and ginger beer, then top with Mango Mimosa. Stir gently and garnish.

Good to know: Most ginger beer is non-alcoholic, but a few brands sell an alcoholic version, so check the label.

5. Watermelon Cranberry Rosemary Sparkler

Red, green and very holiday. This one looks fancy and takes two minutes.

You'll need (1 drink):

  • 2 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/4 oz honey or simple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • About half a can of Fungi Fusion Watermelon, chilled
  • A rosemary sprig and a few fresh cranberries, to garnish

How to make it: Stir the cranberry juice and honey together in a wine glass until the honey dissolves. Add ice, top with Watermelon, and garnish with the rosemary sprig and cranberries.

Tips for hosting an alcohol-free friendly party

  • Give the mocktails their own spot. Set up a small station with glasses, garnishes and a printed menu, not a cooler in the corner.
  • Name the drinks. A name on a little card makes an alcohol-free drink feel like a choice, not a consolation prize.
  • Keep cans cold. Sparkling drinks taste best well chilled, and cold cans hold their bubbles longer.
  • Prep garnishes early. Slice citrus, wash herbs and freeze blueberries the morning of the party.

Where Fungi Fusion fits

We built Fungi Fusion as a sparkling drink that tastes like a treat. Every flavor is brewed with Lion's Mane, Cordyceps and Reishi from fruiting body extracts, and every can is caffeine-free and alcohol-free, with 35 calories and 9 g of sugar from organic agave. The three flavors (Mango Mimosa, Watermelon and Blue Raspberry) work on their own over ice or as the base for any recipe above.

If you're stocking up for the season, the Sober-Curious Drinks collection has every flavor in one place. For the punch, grab a few extra cans of Blue Raspberry. For a little bit of everything, the 12-can Variety Pack covers all five recipes.

The takeaway

A good holiday mocktail doesn't need a long ingredient list. Start with a flavorful sparkling base, add something tart and something fresh, and serve it in a real glass. Pick one or two of these recipes, set up a small station, and your alcohol-free guests will feel just as celebrated as everyone else.

FAQ

What is a mushroom mocktail?
A mushroom mocktail is an alcohol-free mixed drink made with a functional mushroom beverage as the base. Instead of a spirit, you start with something like a sparkling mushroom seltzer, then add juice, herbs and garnishes. Most taste nothing like mushrooms. With a fruit-flavored seltzer, the drink tastes like a bright, fizzy fruit spritz.

Do Fungi Fusion mocktails taste like mushrooms?
No. Fungi Fusion uses mushroom extracts in fruit-flavored sparkling drinks, so you taste mango, watermelon or blue raspberry rather than anything earthy. Once you add citrus, herbs and juice, the mocktail tastes like a fruit spritz. If you've had gritty mushroom coffee before, this is a very different experience.

Are these mocktails caffeine-free?
The Fungi Fusion base is caffeine-free, and none of the recipes add coffee, tea or energy drinks. Fruit juice, ginger beer and fresh herbs don't normally contain caffeine either. If you swap in another mixer, check its label, since some sodas and ginger beers do contain caffeine.

Can I make these mocktails ahead of time?
Prep everything except the bubbles. Juice the citrus, mix any syrups, wash the herbs and freeze the blueberries the morning of the party. Keep the cans chilled and add the sparkling base right before serving, so each drink stays fizzy. The punch can sit in its bowl for about an hour once the cans are added.

How many cans do I need for a holiday party?
Plan on about two drinks per non-drinking guest over a few hours. Most single-serve recipes here use half a can to a full can, and the punch uses four cans for eight servings. A 12-can Variety Pack usually covers a small gathering with every flavor represented.
